LENGTHY DISPUTE OVER TENLEYTOWN TOWER ENDS IN SUCCESSFUL SETTLEMENT

Both parties praise settlement as fair and balanced (Washington, DC) Mayor Anthony A. Williams announced today that on Thursday, March 16 the District of Columbia and American Towers, Inc. entered into a settlement agreement that resolves the litigation surrounding the communications tower located at 4623 41st Street, NW.

Both the District and American Towers, Inc. believe that this settlement strikes a fair balance between the good faith positions of the parties and is fair and equitable to all concerned."I am pleased that this protracted dispute has been settled - I know that many Tenleytown residents have been waiting for years for a resolution to this case," said Mayor Williams. "I look forward to the dismantling of the tower, and I have instructed my staff to facilitate the permitting process so that this can proceed quickly."

The settlement agreement specifies that American Towers in 10 business days from March 16 must apply for demolition permits and authorizations to take down the tower. The District will assist in this process. Once American Towers dismantles the tower, both parties agree to terminate all remaining legal proceedings.
